Limestone Powder (Calcium Carbonate) has been used for centuries to extend or thicken oil paint, to make gouache paint, to improve strength and opacity of egg tempera, to make gesso, and to adjust paint quality (body, texture, opacity, matte-ness and pigment extender). 

What you can make with it:

  • Gouache: mix it with pigment and binder for a matte, opaque paint
  • Gesso: make your own primer for panels and canvases
  • Egg tempera: improves strength and opacity
  • Oil paint: extends and thickens for more body
  • Adjust your paint
